Taxodium distichum (Swamp Cypress) | A single tree on the W side of the Cam, about 50m S of Garret Hostel Bridge [map], from where it is best viewed | |
Taxus baccata (Common Yew) | Y | Very common, with some fair-sized trees in Histon Road Cemetery; Irish Yew (‘Fastigiata’) is also frequent in this cemetery and in Mill Road Cemetery; there are small Golden Irish Yew trees (‘Fastigiata aurea’) at the S edge of Mill Road Cemetery and near the Holland Street exit to Alexandra Gardens |
Thuja occidentalis (Eastern White Cedar) | Found only as its bushy cultivars, which are common in gardens | |
Thuja plicata (Western Red Cedar) | RC | The type tree is very common: there is a rather ragged looking specimen in Holy Trinity churchyard in the City Centre; a much larger tree on the N side of Latham Road about 100m W of Trumpington Road [map]; the ‘Zebrina’ (or the similar ‘Irish Gold’) cultivar is common, e.g. in the gardens in front of Ditchburn Place on Mill Road [map] |
Tilia americana (American Lime) | AL | There are some on Jesus Green, just E of the lock, and on Petersfield near the junction of East Road with Mill Road |
Tilia cordata (Small-leaved Lime) | SL | There are three in Mill Road Cemetery and a row in Trinity College grounds on the N side of Garret Hostel Lane W of the river [map]; there are some young fastigiate trees (possibly ‘Rancho’) outside Cripps Court on the N side of Chesterton Lane [map] |
Tilia x euchlora (Crimean Lime) | CL | A common amenity tree, e.g. all down the SE side of Parker's Piece |
Tilia x europaea (Common Lime) | L | Excessively common, with avenues on Christ's Pieces and a fine row along the NE side of Parker's Piece |
Tilia mongolica (Mongolian Lime) | Four small trees in front of Terrington House, by the junction of St Paul's Road with Hills Road [map]; a larger tree in Chesterton Churchyard, across the footpath from the church [map] | |
Tilia platyphyllos (Broad-leaved Lime) | BL | Quite frequent hidden among the much more common Common Limes; several trees on Petersfield next to Parker's Piece; several young and mature trees on and around Christ's Pieces |
Tilia tomentosa (Silver Lime) | SiL PL | Four trees on Parker's Piece; one on the S side of Warwick Road near its junction with Histon Road [map]; Silver Pendent Lime (‘Petiolaris’) is represented by three magnificent mature trees on the S side of Midsummer Common, as well as many saplings |
