Trees of Jesus Green, Cambridge
Jesus Green is dominated by the avenue of London Plane [P], probably planted for one of Queen Victoria's Jubilees (in 1887 and 1897 – I counted the rings on a felled tree once, but I forget which it matched). Jesus Green shares a fine avenue of Horse Chestnut [HC] with Midsummer Common, Victoria Avenue running down the middle. As well as the avenue of Bird Cherry [BC], a marvellous sight in flower, there are many other interesting trees to be seen, particularly along the strip between the north bank of the Cam and Chesterton Road.
