Sophora japonica — Pagoda Tree
A frequent mid-18th century introduction from the Far East.
The alternate pinnate leaves have elegant pointed leaflets. The tiny buds are rimmed by the leaf scars. Large branched heads of white flowers are produced towards the end of summer.
