Pterocarya fraxinifolia — Caucasian Wingnut
An increasingly frequent and very vigorous late-18th century introduction.
The alternate large pinnate leaves have large, soft leaflets. The buds are naked. Long catkins give rise to strings of nuts with rounded ‘wings’.
