Prunus x subhirtella — (Winter Cherry)
A common 20th century introduction from Japan in the forms ‘Autumnalis’ and ‘Autumnalis Rosea’.
The alternate leaves are small and double-toothed. The small semi-double flowers are white in ‘Autumnalis’ and pink in ‘Autumnalis Rosea’, and open gradually from mid-autumn to early spring.
