Prunus dulcis — Almond
A common early introduction from the Mediterranean region.
The alternate leaves are long and rather crumpled. Large single pink flowers appear early on in spring and give rise to felted green fruit, which splits to reveal the peach-like stone (which contains the almond kernel), some of which often persist on the tree over winter.
