Platanus orientalis — Oriental Plane
An infrequent early introduction from the Near East.
Mature trees are squatter and broader than London Plane. The leaves are more deeply-lobed than those of London Plane, and the foliage has a much more feathery look. The fruit is smaller and in larger numbers per string than in most forms of London Plane.
‘Cuneata’ seems to be a common cultivar differing only in a tapered (cuneate) leaf base.
‘Digitata’ has leaves with narrow finger-like lobes.
