Ficus carica — Fig
An early and increasingly abundant introduction from the Eastern Mediterranean region, naturalizing freely. Usually low and spreading, but can grow quite large.
The alternate five-lobed leaves are unmistakeable, as are the fruit which ripen (sometimes) from green to purple over winter. The buds are yellowish-green; the terminal bud is pointed.
