Cupressus sempervirens — Italian Cypress
An early introduction from the Mediterranean region.
Usually forms a tall narrow tree. Foliage is like that of other true cypresses, and has a faint sweet resinous smell when crushed. The large cones are abundant.
‘Green Pencil’ is a very narrow form always abundantly studded with cones.
