Cedrus deodara — Deodar
Introduced from the Himalayan region in the first half of the 19th century, and very common, particularly in gardens.
Young trees have particularly long, lax needles. Older trees tend to have rather shorter needles, but still retain the characteristic drooping shoot tips. The flat-topped cones are scarce.
‘Aurea’ is a golden variant, particularly obvious in spring.
‘Pendula’ weeps strongly.
