Catalpa bignonioides — Indian Bean
An early 18th-century introduction from America, quite frequent in warmer parts, especially as a park tree.
The huge leaves are very distinctive; they are usually unlobed, except on young trees. The buds are tiny. Large, loose candles of whitish flowers are produced in late summer, followed by long pods which persist through the winter.
