Photo Archive: Maogusi dancers

The maogusi dance form is a very ancient dance form usually performed during the first part of the baishouwu festival. The dancers dress in cogongrass costumes and then mime dance sequences depict various hunting, farming and fertility themes. This photo was taken at a cultural festival held in Pojiao rural township in Longshan County in the summer of 2001.
